Business Objective

  • Create a loyalty program to drive consumer purchases at Big Y Supermarkets while also providing goodwill toward the local community.

Context/Challenge

  • With ever-decreasing school budgets, a program to help support local schools with much needed supplies for teachers and students was identified as the program recipient.

Marketing Approach & Solution

  • The Education Express online platform utilizes the Big Y Shopper Loyalty Card to link shopper purchase data with designated community schools:
    • Shopper’s participating product purchases accrue points which are linked to local participating schools of shopper's choice.
    • Participating schools redeem points earned ongoing from an online merchandise catalog containing Educational Supplies, Classroom Materials, Music and Sports Equipment.
